A savory and tasteful dish,that is a spin on shepperd pie.
This dish combines sweet and salty and savory. Is a great dish for company. The original recipe is from Puerto Rico.
Try it everyone will love it.
1 to 1 .15 hrs 8 to 12 Ingredients 2lbs of ground beef 80 % or 85 % fat free 2 medium onion chopped 4 gloves of garlic minced ½ green pepper chopped ½ cup of chopped cilantro ½ cup of chopped stuffed olives 1 tablesspoon of tomato paste 1 envelope of SAZON Goyaoptional Salt & pepper to taste 1 package of frozen green beans defrosted 1 package of shrered mozzarella 8 very ripe plantains yellow to brown in skin color ½ stick of butter salt and pepper to taste Directions First heat oven to 400 . Take the plaintains, cut in half ,make a slit down the side and wrap in aluminum foil. Place in oven on the rack or cookie sheet. Bake for about half hour or until you feel they are very soft inside. In the meantime you can brown the beef and drain it , add,onion, garlic, pepper, cilantro olives, tomato paste and Zason GOYA . Let simmer on medium to low heat for about half hour covered, add salt and pepper. If when you uncovered the beef is too liquidy Then leave on about 5 more minutes uncovered until it dries up a little. Now you can unwrapped the plantains and mashed them with the butter , salt and pepper. If they are dry then you can add a little milk, mash until they are nicely mashed and you Can spread them. Ok now we can assemble in layers. First spread all the beef on the bottom of the baking pan, then layer the green beans, now the mozarrella cheese . The last layer is the mashed plantains, spread them evenly on the top and add little melted butter. Place in the oven and bake at 350F for about 30 minutes or until is golden around the edges. Let cool and cut and into squares and serve with white rice. DELICIOSO
