Chocolate Chip Date Cake

My mother's own recipe tempting us since 1942 40 minutes 15 Ingredients 1 cup cut up dates, 1 tsp soda, 1 cup boiling water 1 cup sugar, 1 cup butter, 2 eggs 2 cups flour 2 tbsps cocoa 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup chocolate chips 1/2 cup butterscotch chips 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Directions Mix the 1st 3 ingredients and set aside to cool Cream sugar, butter and eggs Add flour cocoa and vanilla, mix Add the date mixture, mix Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips to batter, mix Pour into greased & floured 9 x 13 cake pan Top with remaining chocolate and butterscotch chips and walnuts Bake @ 350 for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean No Frosting Required :-
