| | A REALLY GREAT CHEESEBURGER Serving Size: 4 Ingredients ½ pound ground chuck ½ pound ground sirloin salt & pepper, to taste 2 tablespoons soy sauce 4 slices cheddar or American cheese unsalted, butter, melted as needed 4 hamburger buns lettuce, tomato & condiments Directions - In a large mixing bowl combine the chuck and sirloin. Season with salt and pepper and mix thoroughly. Shape into 4 patties.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet until hot. Add the patties to the pan and press down, using the back of a metal spatula. Add the soy sauce to the pan and cover the pan immediately with a lid or heatproof plate. Cook about 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom. Remove the lid and turn the burgers over. Cover and cook 2 minutes more.
- Remove the lid and place the cheese slices on top of the burgers. Cover the pan again and cook for 1 minute longer or until the cheese has melted.
- Meanwhile, lightly butter and toast the buns. Top the toasted buns with the cheeseburgers. Garnish with condiments.
Note Using all sirloin would significantly reduce the fat in this burger, however, low-fat ground turkey is necessary to really reduce the fat content. Again, low-fat or fat-free cheese helps save your arteries! The buns can also be sprayed with olive oil rather than buttered, to further reduce the calories. |
