Pineapple Caramel Glaze for Baked Ham
Thick glaze coats ham and makes delicious sauce for pouring on
top of ham and mashed potatoes. Heavenly flavored with pineapple, cloves and brown sugar. Much better than the usual ham bastings I've tasted. Raved about by all friends and family . 1 hour 10 or more servings Ingredients Juice from 1 20 oz can Dole Pineapple chunks, drained and reserve pineapple 1 pound light brown sugar 1 Tablespoon ground cloves 1 2-3 quart saucepan Directions Combine all the ingredients except the pineapple chunks into saucepan and heat on high stirring constantly with the wooden spoon. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED AS IT WILL BOIL OVER VERY QUICKLY ONCE IT STARTS TO BOIL. Once it starts to boil, lower temperature to medium-high and continue stirring for about 5 minutes until the mixture is clear and sticks to the wooden spoon. In the meantime have your ham baking at 350* oven turning every 15 minutes. Pour the sauce over the ham 1 hour before serving and keep basting with the ham drippings and juices and continue to turn ham over when basting. When ham is done, set on platter and stir juices and sauce till well mixed. Skim off any grease that might float to the top of the sauce, pour over sliced ham and pour remaining sauce into gravy boat or small bowl to serve at the table. spoon.
