Took me a few minutes to figure how how it worked...and lost some skin before I perfected my technique...but the shredded golden hash browns were perfect after cooking them in my new Thermolon Green Pan also purchased from HSN. Takes a light touch and keep the fingers away. And for heaven sakes - use the peice provided to hold the veggies in place...not your hand!

Wobbly and no matter how I try to reset the blade slices come out thinner on one side than the other. Anything this sharp should be rock steady and this is far from that.

I purchased my slice approx. 2 months ago. The assembly was easy, simply insert the blade and adjust the thickness of the cut. I've sliced up apples for the kids, sliced onions for onion rings, and julianned (extra thin) potatoes for hash browns which are my kids favorites. Defineately be careful when useing and practice your technique, as the mandoline is not that sturdy or well balanace. When slicing vegetables, if you spray a little pam or olive oil on the slicing surface of the mandoline it helps ALOT. I am happy w/ the mandoline, but would have preffered more instructions and a guide as to what blade (comes w/ 4 blades) to use w/ what foods. A small cook-book would have also been helpful

The slicer does exactly what Wolfgang says it will do. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out the blade adjustments. I peeled some potatoes and inserted one of the crosscut blades and off I went. I made 10 ounds of fries in less then 5 minutes. When I was done, I popped it into the dishwasher, top rack and no heat dry. It came out of the dishwasher looking brand new.

I sliced onions on this today and it worked just fine. I really didn't have any problems with this. It didn't take me long to figure out how to use this. I'm keeping mine.
